Way to wreck 3 comps in one hit eew…35-1s, 45-1s and 45-2s. 57 goals for, 4 against after only 7 games. What was the arrogant plea at the beginning of the season to the GHFA…… 'We want to play 35-2s this year and want a spot in the COC for 45-1s'. Yeah cheers Toss!!!

Great side with nowhere to go. No one gains anything from a 19-0 scoreline. The winner and loser. They would be better off in AA1 or a reserve grade side.

Huh?

Whilst I have heard rumours about their request for playing 35's yet representing the Association in 45's COC, how have EEW wrecked anything?

35/1s - the best and tightest comp that I have played in for many years

45/1s - results suggest they clearly have the right to be there

45/2s - the 45s was amalgamated as there were plenty of teams not wanting to play Div 1, and not just because of EEW. Last year the top 3 teams had awesome GDs, yet the bottom 3 had poor GDs (4th was minus 31 GD). I thought it was a good idea not to have 6 teams again. Its not their fault they are over 45 and smash it?

All things being equal EEW went to 45s a season early. But if they hadn't done two or three weren't up for another season of 35s due to constant injuries, chronic in some cases. Injuries are rare in 45s compared to being regular in 35-1s. They would have looked elsewhere for a run without the same risk levels. Someone like Richie, whose grandfather duties sometimes get priority, might have preferred to have a run down in the Sutherland comp where he lives. He is frigging amazing, at 58 he is still plays like plenty of 40yr olds. This year EEW did lose a few players who left Sydney so the squad is too small for 35s. As it was goal keeper injured for the season in first round also. 10,11 or 12 is the usual number at games. The top half of the 45s comp is competitive, really just the bottom 3 aren't. There are ex PL players in other teams as well. Nth Ryde have a some and do pretty well. Blow outs is not new, 35s have had combined Div1/2 comps in years past. Scores of 19-0 wasn't unheard of then either. 45s will eventually strengthen, Redbacks could field a team. You'll all get there too. EEW 45s need to play well to beat YMCA (A) and Putney. On their day both could take points off EEW. The Y led EEW 1-0 for the first 20 minutes before running out of steam in the second half to lose 5-2. As I understand it the 45s comp splits this weekend and the 45/2s separate. So the blow outs should minimise.

How is the 'Round 9' split fair since there are two washed out rounds still to play?
Only 7 games have been played and some teams have played more Div 2 teams then Div 1.

DNA42.... You need to get out and have a look at what is going on out there...a few years back 35's was the same with a combined 1/2 comp and there were some very lop sided score lines back then as well. I suppose EEW tore that comp apart as well?
EEW as far as I am aware is a side that is and has quite a few players possibly older than most competitive sides in the comp. You cannot blame them for a scoreline where it is one sided. That happens in all competitions at some stage whether it be div 1 or div 9.
There are a side who have seen some change in their squad to the point of the possibility of folding as a team which would see an end to what they play as and for... A bunch of mates playing together!!!! That is what it is about.
Yes they are competitive but aren't we all? I hate being beaten by them but that was all a part of the challenge to try and compete as long as we could.
As for them playing 35's or whatever it would have been a challenge for them both numbers and physically week in and week out to back up, hence losing their keeper in the first game of the season who will possibly never play again with both age and recovery the challenge.
They trial against the 35's and know what benchmark they are setting themselves against. To do it every week is not what they can do nor commit to due to family life, their children's sport and work. This is not the only district where this domination happens.. Aka Cronulla RSL, Inter Lions or Castle Hill.
It won't be long before the next progression will take place from 35's to 45's of players which from what I've viewed should happen, maybe an over 50's comp is next but who knows other than GHFA.
DNA42 if that is anything to read by, you may be too young for 45's but not good enough for 35's hence venting your grievances on here. If that is the case come and join me on the sidelines in retirement or cop it on the chin champ!!!
The comp splits this week to div 1 and 2 but there are catchups planned for the last 2 rounds before the finals which may see div 2 teams play each other or even the possibility of a div 1 team against a div 2.

forgot to add that Boz is too young and fast to play 35's and Morro is too skilful.... Although Penno not performing to the for guide either... Maybe you need DNA42 !!!!

I play in Canterbury. While Inter are the best side I do not remember them winning 19-0. Read some of the marvellous over 45's reports written by the YMCA and you will get a feel for what the other over 45's think of the disparity between EEW and the rest.

Happy for the debate and 'fertile' discussion!
Just don't believe there should be a bye in any Div 1 comp.(35s)
We'll see how the split comes out shortly and kick on from there, but with the current rain set to continue, cannot see any games again this weekend.

what a way to split the comp.. 5 teams each - and with byes for both. should have split 4 & 6 teams if there is time for it..

Actually 4 comps wrecked as 45/3 is a 6 team comp this season. Never played in one before and don't want to again.

There are 32 teams in 45's this season. In anyone's language that's 4 divs x 8 teams.

North Ryde and Glenhaven should have gone up from last year.

Don't know what happened to Frank's Benito's Putney (2) side from last year who are now burglaring div 4.

Saw first half of North Ryde & EEW the other week. Nth Ryde very competative in first half until keeper was injured. EEW over ran them in 2nd half despite only squad of 12 and non keeper in goals. Fitness counts !!

It's about time GHFA had a selection of 45's players doing the grading.

I did 35's years back. Picked a 6 team div one comp. GHFA over ruled me and combined div1/div2 and buggered it up.

Bring me back :-)

GHFA failed to deliver on this comp. Been promising an 8 team comp but obviously top div 2 teams like silverware & refuse to compete. Again they got their own way & the bottom div 2 teams have suffered. What will they do if the bottom div 1 clubs seek alternatives. Bite the bullet & make it an 8 team comp & show some spuds GHFA.
