draft gradings just out, 35/1s in 2017 is
STA
PEN
RED
ASH
WRR
All the above from 35/1 last year. Plus
EPP
EEW
THL
Up from 35/2 last year.
8 team comp again.
What's the point of bringing up teams that arent up to it.
The guys organising it, need to listen to the feedback from the teams affected.
Stick to a 6 team comp for div 1.

That was suggested at MC but EEW said no. GHFA came back with 4 teams in 45/1 and 4 in 45/2 playing as a combined comp. 3 teams in 45/2 withdrew immediately. So we now have 4 teams in 45/1, EEW EPP PUT and ASH and an 8 teams 45/2 playing separate comps.
No question that EEW 45s could/should play 35s. They've played trials against Penno & STA. Drew against Penno and lost to STA 3-2. The prospect of the weekly flogging of the lower half of some sort of 45s comp can't be too exciting. Those combined comps are always a shambles.
sounds to me like it could be a shambles again. GHFA need to get them and the other 45/1's possibly into the Kuringai comp or some other association if.
There is no doubt EEW could play 35/1's but playing week in and week out against legs up to 20 years the younger may catch up with them at some stage. The majority are the better side of 50 or pretty close to it from playing against them for some time from my view.
It is a problem and also a problem in many associations across the metro area,
There was talk a few years back of a combined comp consisting of GHFA,Kuringai and SSFA teams but never got the legs to get going, maybe this is something that is needed.
I know recently Granville and Bansktown have combined their premier league to create a stringer comp.
Watch this space I would say......
GHFA approached NSFA (Kurringai) and Manly Dist about a combined 45/1 comp this year. Manly rejected idea, NSFA were open to it, but then had enough clubs apply for 45/1 to go it alone.
GHFA did try something different, just had no takers.
Draft first round is out...
Epping FC v Eastwood St Andrews AFC
All Saints Hunters Hill SC v West Ryde Rovers FC
Epping Eastwood FC v Thornleigh SC
Pennant Hills FC v Redbacks FC
