hawks look a better side this year, had more control early, WPH went ahead maybe against the run of play but Hawks equalised with good team goal.
WPH had a new look team and took a while to gel and get their shape but the rest of the half was quite even only really memorable for an unnecessary all in brawl.
second half started even. WPH took the lead bundling home a rebound and the belief spread through their young side. Hawks seemed to fold a bit and WPH took complete control. Final score perhaps a bit flattering as Hawks well in it for an hour and look decent but like the look of the WPH new young side. No Kane but still a real goal threat out there and maybe playIng a bit more tiki taka football now too.
Based on watching yesterday Woodies look like they're going to struggle this year. Seem to have lost a lot of their standard stalwarts in 1st grade that held them in the top 4 range for years. No big red or horse and a few other seem to be gone too, although may just be injured.
Either way, didn't seem to have much on offer in either grade and will be around the drop if that's what they put up all year...
Woodies usually may more competitive. Can't fault our boys performance but honestly could have been doubke in both games if we weren't as wasteful. But heard there were rumours of a revolt at the woodies and noticed a number of usual players not there? Be interesting to see whether its just a round one absence thing because I only remember North Eppings ressies being worse and the first team were not much better...
