Epping FC Paying Players

Heard several rumours (including friends of the players and players at the club) around the Epping FC camp that NPL players have been paid to come and play for them this year.

Is this fair? Does it take away from the spirit of park football and the premier league game?

Who funds this if the club is funded by council?

Is my tax going towards an Epping FC premiership title charge which returns zero real world value?

What do you think?

I don't believe this rumour. Just doesn't make sense from any angle, and who are these supposed "npl" players?

This has been happening for years. Not a new concept to this league either

If it's not a direct payment to players it comes in the form of "free rego" or other incentives that the coaching staff / clubs offer high level players to come down to park football level.

I highly doubt the council has any involvement with this though.

As for going against the "spirit" of park football I have no problem with it. You'd be surprised at the amount of legitimate players in this competition that have played at a higher level. There's not as big of a difference as you'd think between the top PL players and the lower levels of the NPL system.

The NPL players that decide to come down to PL are usually the ones on their way out / not particularly good enough to cut it at the higher level anyway (otherwise they'd still be playing NPL)

If you have an issue then just give em a good old two foot welcome next time you play them

lol there is not one NPL player at Epping. If so, league 2 at best and that's rubbish they just take it more serious than park football. Who comes up with these statements haha

Why pick on Epping the Putney core given free rego to join Penno while long standing loyal players have to pay

Putney players get paid in reach arounds.

Please kids, don't google this in class.

Been happening for years and I see no problem with it. If anything it makes the quality of the league higher which is better for everyone.

Kenthurst were notorious for offering the best players from other clubs free rego to come play for them. Hell they even had Jason culina cameo for half a season.

In other areas, most players are paid for this level of football.

In the Wollongong comp the local premier league players are paid.

In Victoria they have state league instead of premier league. It's essentially the same as it's the level below NPL. The state league players are paid and the competition it has created makes the overall standard much better than we have.
