What's it got to do with one individual who cares? Majority of whatever strong players they had left everyone knows this. The result is not surprising at all coach has got no clue.

Agreed, think the callout is a bit uncalled for. Rumour has it the bloke may be off to play Maq Dragons as he wants out of Putney. Not surprised at all after hearing about the display tonight, will be a good pickup for the brothers of Waterloo Park.
Looks like normo got some of their old 1st graders back tonight. Definitely looked the stronger side in an exciting nil all draw. Look a lot more solid now with their captain back

just checked on dribble and there was only 1 player from their first grade side from last year that was back from the 1st round loss to penno. Their captain played in the 2-0 loss to penno. Look like a very young side
Albert Shepherd was, without a doubt, the worst coach the league had seen since John Zapala. A scrawny, clueless twink with the tactical awareness of a traffic cone, he took over a team filled with young stars destined for the next A-League generation—and promptly sent them all packing. His reasoning? “They don’t fit my system.” A system that, as it turned out, involved signing washed-up park footballers and a few mates from his CrossFit gym.
Week after week, his team got battered. Five-nil losses turned into six-nil losses, which then became humiliations so severe even the club’s own fans stopped keeping count. The players stopped trying. The club’s social media admin, once a beacon of hope, resorted to posting blurry photos of the canteen sausage rolls instead of match highlights.
Shepherd, though, remained unfazed. “We’re building something special,” he’d say in post-match interviews, voice cracking under the weight of delusion. When pressed on what exactly he was building, he only smiled and muttered something about “trusting the process.”
By mid-season, the club sat dead last. Calls for his sacking flooded in, but somehow, he clung to his job—likely because no one else wanted it. Then, in a last-ditch attempt to shake things up, he signed a striker from a local futsal league who turned out to be a personal trainer with a torn ACL.
The final straw came in a friendly against the Under-13s Epping squad. A development team. Kids who still had to be dropped off by their parents. Shepherd’s men, a team of so-called professionals, lost 10-0.
That night, the board finally pulled the trigger. Albert Shepherd was gone. His legacy? A ruined team, a record number of goals conceded, and a fanbase left wondering how they had ever let a twink destroy their club.

Wow, Epping FC were just so clincial in both games, clearly their off-season they worked hard and developed good connections and chemistry in the team. I was there for the second half of Reserve Grade and couldn't belive my eyes seeing them put past 9 in 45 minutes. 1st grade were quality, similar performance with 10 goals put past Putney. Looked like Barcelona vs Derby County. Looking forward to seeing this young squad go forward in the season, looking very promising. #football #quality #aura #chama
I thought the epping ymca vs putney scores were a wind up. Typical forum dribble as I didn't see them inputted into real Dribl. If the rumours are true it must have been an awful display from Putney, or maybe the epping kids are that good.
little from both camps in that front. Putney had a woeful 2nd half of 2024 and that combined with the ship-jumping that happened in the off season it doesn't surprise me at all that they got towelled up. Meanwhile from what I saw in their run in the cup Epping seem to be the real deal. Young, fast, hungry and skillful. Been a long time since a newly promoted team has shown such promise.

it is real, we played putney in a trial game with no reserves and u18s filling in and put 10 past them
its going to be a long season for them
i wouldnt be surprised if they started forfeiting ressies/dropped our of the comp

I wanted to retire. I wanted to give up the forum life. But sometimes results happen that make you remember that you didn't choose to be the Putney Ranger, but the mantle of the Ranger chose you.
I was born and raised in Putney. My grandfather was a Ranger, my father was a Ranger, I am a Ranger, and despite the former 2 being dead, I think BOTH could have gotten minutes on the weekend. I am SICK TO MY STOMACH of this team, 19-0 ACROSS BOTH GRADES??? DID WE EVEN SHOW UP???
Well you know what, if the players won't show up, the fans won't either, I propose that all friends, family and supporters at the game vs West Penno this weekend walk out in the 19th minute to protest against the lack of effort shown so far this season.
I remember the dark days in super league. I told my kids we will never play at that level again, but you may as well relegate us already with how we're playing. Drastic action has to be taken.
All Putney fans, use the hashtag #19AndOut to promote our walkout this weekend. Ranger out.
The saddest moment for me wasn't the 19th goal. It was my kid who has played for Putney all his junior career. He turned to me and sad these fateful words "I don't want to play for Putney Prems when I'm older".
I didn't have the heart to tell him (8 years old) what I've heard...
"You've been selected to play first grade next week mate".
Sadly I can't walk out as I had my left leg amputated in the offseason, but if one of the mothers preferably a hot one can help roll me out using my wheelchair that would be appreciated.
